More Triumphs for Hoddesdon Team

HODDESDON Team finished 2nd in the second round of the Herts Major League Gala on Saturday 28th January, 2012 at The Venue, Borehamwood.

Competing against Watford, Potters Bar, Harpenden, Stevenage and Berkhamsted Barracudas, Hoddesdon Team wanted to finish in the top three, however with several swimmers unavailable, consistently good performances were needed in order to achieve their goal. Seven swimmers were also competing at the Central Zonal Meet in Corby and Team Manager Mary Wright was hoping they would have a clear run back down the A1M in order to do both competitions.

Georgie Pryor qualifies for the Olympic Selection Trials:

Georgie PryorHODDESDON swimmer and pupil of Herts and Essex School, Bishop’s Stortford, Georgina Pryor achieved her goal this weekend qualifying for the British Gas Olympic Selection Trials to be held at the London Aquatic Centre in March.Seven Hoddesdon Team members travelled to Corby East Midlands International pool on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th January to compete in the Central Zonal Meet.

This is the second year for the ASA Zonal Meets. On the same weekend the ASA organise a North, South and Central Zonal Meet. The Central Zone consists of the ASA East Region, ASA East Midlands Region and the ASA West Midlands Region and the swimmers have the opportunity to compete against each other as individuals.

Busy Weekend for Hoddesdon Swimmers

HODDESDON swimmers had a busy weekend racing trying to be selected for the East Herts Schools gala or achieving important qualifying times for County or Regional events.On Saturday, 21st January 2012 there were two events; the Edmonton Phoenix Open Meet during the day at Southbury Road, Enfield and in the evening the East Herts time trials held at Hartham Pool, Hertford, for pupils who are in year 5 and 6 schools in East Herts where the fastest swimmers are selected for the East Herts Team.

Five swimmers travelled to Bishop’s Stortford Open Meet at Braintree Pool on the Sunday: Max and Elise McCusker, Eleanor Turpin, Ellie and Amy Godsave. Between them they won eight golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronze medals and all achieving personal best times.

Disability Swimming Development Day - 18th Feb, Hatfield

HSCSATURDAY, 18th February 2012 will see the second Hertfordshire Disability Development Day for swimming, which will be held at the Herts Sports Village, Hatfield. The day starts at 11:30am with an educational programme for swimming teachers and coaches, with a choice of two CPD’s one on working with children with educational difficulties and the other on how to integrate disabled swimmers into a mainstream coaching environment with additional focus on visual impairment.

Hoddesdon Swimmers Travel to Compete at Top Level Competitions

HSCEIGHT Hoddesdon swimming club members travelled to the City of Cambridge to compete in their Winter Open Meet on the weekend of 13th, 14th and 15th January 2012.The first session on the Friday evening was for the 400m freestyle distance event. Max McCusker, pupil at Bishop’s Stortford College, won the gold medal for the 12yr age group with an eleven seconds pb time of 4.50.24. Georgina Fisher came 4th with a pb time of 4.54.03 in the 13yr girls and sisters Emma and Charlotte Longden both achieved pb times and both came 5th in their respective age groups 11yr and 14yr, Emma 8 secs and Charlotte 4 secs personal best times. Chloe Richards came 9th with a time of 5.02.15 in the 14yr and Kaitlyn Walsh came 11thwith a time of 5.17.04 in the 13yr age group.

GEORGINA Pryor, pupil of Herts & Essex High School for Girls, Bishop’s Stortford and member of Hoddesdon swimming club travelled to the International Pool, Ponds Forge in Sheffield to compete in the City of Derby Level 1 LC meet. The event which continues to attract swimmers who wish to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Trials in March included Becky Adlington, Fran Halsall, Liam Tancock and former Hoddesdon SC member Lucy Charles who now competes for Hatfield SC.

Hoddesdon start 2012 in style

HSCHODDESDON swimming club started 2012 in style with fine performances after the Christmas break from their team in the first round of the Herts Major League gala held at Hitchin pool on Saturday, 7th January.

The Hoddesdon team compete in Division One, there are three rounds of galas and the first round is usually a hard gala because it is so soon after the holiday break, however, there were still personal best times recorded by Emma Longden, Ralph Davies, Max McCusker, Ryan Brewster, Cerys Edwards, Elise McCusker, Keira Sullivan, David Kelleway, Matt Harris, Eleanor Turpin, Sam Richards, Jessica Callaghan, Daniel Cole, Joel Crouch, Kane Hagley-King, James Narengian, Chris Smith, Sam Longden, and Ben Warrington.
